Alka-Plus increases total alkalinity of the pool water. Total alkalinity represents the buffering capacity of the water and helps to keep the pH in a range. You will not be able to keep the pH in the proper range without also balancing the total alkalinity. We recommend total alkalinity to be 100 - 140 ppm.
